We are pleased to announce

our partnership with the IRS and the VITA Program.  We are authoring a pilot program between the IRS and the VA at the VA Northport, NY, medical facility.  Stand by for times and locations in 2013. 

Through the IRS’ VITA program, you can take advantage of one of the options below that fits you best-with the easiest being to click through on the MyFreeTaxes link below.

1. Going to a VITA site allows you to have face-to-face tax preparation with an IRS-certified volunteer or you can use the self preparation service where you prepare and file your own tax return with access to an IRS-certified volunteer if you have questions.   VITA sites are generally located at community and neighborhood centers, libraries, schools, shopping malls, and other convenient locations. 2.  If you are the type of person that is interested in free on-line tax preparation without going to a VITA site, you have several choices to prepare taxes for free from home, work, or anywhere with access to the internet. Software companies make their products available through public-private partnerships with the IRS. Free federal tax preparation and e-file options are available for all taxpayers. However, each participating company sets its own eligibility requirements and not all taxpayers will qualify for all companies. Review all the choices at IRS FreeFile and MyFreeTaxes.

EARNED INCOME TAX CREDIT IS FREE MONEY!  For tax year 2012, a worker with no children who made less than $13,980 can receive up to $475. Single parents with three or more children who made less than $45,060 are eligible for $5,891. Married couples must file taxes jointly. Couples earning less than $19,190 qualify for a credit of $475. Those couples with three or more children qualify for $5,891 if they made less than $50,270. The IRS estimates that more than 26 million citizens received over $60 billion in federal, refundable credits in 2011.

We are investing in multiple manufacturing plants to expand and create jobs. We are investing in suitable commercial buildings as well to expand our capabilities in Florida, Illlinois, Montana, North Carolina, and New York including properties for our adaptive resorts and adaptive living centers. 

 Essential elements of the Vets-Help Mission include providing for the well-being of our target population. These include family safety programs, adaptive sports and skills programs, and cooperation with other Abilities community members to efficiently implement and effect the well-being of our joint communities.
