RIP, Msgr Tom Hartman
A dear friend and mentor passed today from complications of Parkinson's Disease. We were friends for decades - mutual personal confidants, community board member at Telicare, and with Mike Pascucci nonprofit, his CPA and personal business advisor, one of his many business advisors for Telicare. Tom taught me that the world is full of holes of need, and that it is our responsibility to help fill them. Today we have a new crater.
One of the stories not in his obituary was his trip to Russia as the personal emissary of Pope John Paul to arrange the historic meeting between Gorbachev and the Pope in 1989 while escorting a group of exchange students. His reach was extraordinary from hometown to international relief. One of his many missions overseas led to a country we always believe as a needy country sending a boatload of grain to our American needy. He worked behind the scenes at the UN Mission, and countless other efforts. He escorted the Papal delegation so many times I offered to get him a Pope Tour jacket with dates and cities on the back, but he politely deferred. I offered to make one for the Pope as well, but we would have to do it by continent.
Always his trademark smile, and taking the high road, he was an extraordinary man, and I will miss him in an extraordinary way. I know he is smiling from the other side, however, with a twinkle in his eye, and a blessing from his heart to us.
God Bless you, those who you impacted, and your family. RIP, Tom.
